Harlem RBI’s programs have been recognized nationally and locally by leading youth development practitioners and researchers.


2008 Awards

2008 New York Times Nonprofit Excellence Award for Communications   Harlem RBI received the New York Times Company Nonprofit Excellence Award for Communications. In addition to communications, the selection committee was impressed with Harlem RBI’s board governance and leadership.



2007 Awards

2007 Bank of America Neighborhood Builder Award   Harlem RBI was honored for its commitment to the growth and vitality of East Harlem.  This award through Bank of America's Nighborhood Excellence Initiative includes a $200,000 grant as well as leadership training for Harlem RBI's staff.
2007 Bank of America Local Hero Award   Vincent Coleman, Harlem RBI’s Director of Baseball and Softball Programs received this award that honors five individuals annually for their commitment to their community.
The After School Experience 2007 Excellence Award   Rachel Cytron, Harlem RBI's Deputy Director for Programs received this award from New York 21st CCLC recognizing individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the field of out-of-school time (OST) programming.
Baseball America’s 2007 Youth Coach of the Year Award   Harlem RBI's Director of Baseball and Softball Programs, Vincent Coleman, received Baseball America's 2007 Youth Coach of the Year Award.
2007 James Patterson Pageturner Award   Harlem RBI’s REAL Kids Program once again received the James Patterson Pageturner Award which honors organizations that go to extraordinary lengths to spread the joy of books and reading across the country.


2006 Awards

Center for Summer Learning Excellence Award   Harlem RBI’s REAL Kids Program was named the winner of the Johns Hopkins  University’s “Center for Summer Learning Excellence Award” in a competition that is national in scope.
New York Life Foundation’s Award Program   The Team Enrichment Program was named winner of the New York Life Foundation’s Award Program, recognizing models that prepare young people for higher education or the workplace and equip them to be responsible citizens.
2006 James Patterson Pageturner Award   Harlem RBI’s REAL Kids Program received the 2006 James Patterson Pageturner Award which honors organizations that go to extraordinary lengths to spread the joy of books and reading across the country.
